At The Creatrix, we believe clarity does not come from striving — it rises from presence.
This is a space where rest softens the nervous system, where trust is rebuilt gently, and where inner wisdom is remembered rather than taught.
Here, you are invited to slow down enough to hear yourself again.
To welcome all parts of your story.
To move from self-protection into self-connection.
Through trauma-informed yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and embodied guidance, we create space for you to live from within — not from pressure, performance, or expectation.
This is not about becoming someone new.
It is about returning to who you have always been.
To cultivate a world where individuals trust their inner wisdom, honor their nervous systems, and live with grounded presence — creating lives rooted in clarity, authenticity, and belonging.
To guide individuals into embodied self-trust through trauma-informed yoga, mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, and coaching — creating spaces where rest becomes clarity, trust leads the way, and transformation unfolds naturally from within.
Rather than moving people from striving to thriving, you are moving them from:
• Reactivity to presence
• Self-doubt to self-trust
• Chaos to compassionate awareness
• Performance to permission
These four guiding principles shape every interaction, offering, and experience at The Creatrix:
Presence
Trust
Compassion
Integration

My name is Dawn Cannon. I am the CEO (Chief Energy Officer) here at The Creatrix, as well as a trauma-informed yoga teacher, meditation guide, retreat leader, author, business consultant, artist, and mystic dedicated to serving others by guiding them toward discovering their own inner teacher. Embracing the roles of student, teacher, mother, friend, business owner, retired bank executive, and trauma survivor, I draw from my diverse life experiences to offer wisdom and compassion to those on a journey of healing and self-awareness. A former bank executive, I have redirected my life to align with my purpose of supporting others in finding freedom and wholeness.
I believe that healing is not a linear path but a spiral—a process of continually learning to hold and process pain in a way that allows for a rich, full life. Rather than striving to reach a state of being "healed," I guide others toward awareness of how trauma shapes us, empowering you to break free from its hold. Living by a set of personal vows, I commit daily to grace, grit, and gratitude, infusing my work and life with authenticity, nonviolence, and forgiveness. With each story I tell, I invite my readers to explore the depths of healing, resilience, and self-discovery.
Additionally, I am the co-owner of Sunflower Studio in Taylorsville, Utah and the Board Chair and a facilitator at The Wellness Farm Foundation in Bluffdale, Utah.
I teach various forms of hatha yoga, yoga nidra, meditation and breathwork classes, and personal development workshops. I also provide private lessons, individual coaching, and corporate wellness consulting.
Does The Creatrix have a physical location?
The Creatrix does not currently have a physical location. While we once operated from an office in South Salt Lake, The Creatrix has evolved into a virtual sanctuary for healing, growth, and self-discovery.
This shift allows us to reach a broader community and offer greater flexibility through online offerings, private sessions, and digital resources. Whether you’re joining a virtual yoga nidra session, exploring mindfulness courses, or accessing free and paid digital tools, The Creatrix is designed to meet you wherever you are—both physically and on your journey of transformation.
For in-person experiences, I regularly teach at Sunflower Yoga Studio in Taylorsville and occasionally lead events at The Wellness Farm in Bluffdale and other locations. Check their schedules for opportunities to connect in person.

"I found Dawn after she was a substitute for one of my regular instructors. I did not know at the time just how much I truly needed her way of yoga practice in my life. Before, I had mostly focused on physical strength and balance. This changed once I started to attend Dawn’s classes regularly. She made me realize just how healing yoga can be for the mind. Her classes challenge my brain to stay in the now and really help me focus on my self-care. I appreciate that she comes to class each time prepared with a poem or a quote that always seems to reflect how I am feeling in some way. In Dawn’s class, I feel confident to ask questions about proper form and know she will give an answer without judgment. "

"Dawn brings an intuitive, organic approach to yoga, focusing on truly centering mind and body through practice. In Dawn's classes I've learned how to slow down, listen to myself, and get past my ego. She has helped me advance my yoga practice with thoughtful feedback and a joyful kindness. Her focus on trust building - trusting myself and my body - has fundamentally changed how I approach yoga. She integrates mindfulness, yoga nidra, and poetry to guide classes through more than just movement - finding breath, peace, stillness, and strength through each pose. "

"I was given the opportunity to experience yoga nidra today with Dawn Cannon as my guide. I am not a yogi. To be honest, I have never participated in anything yoga. Yoga nidra is not the yoga that you envision when someone says they do yoga. It isn't about movement or flexibility. It's MEDITATION. Sort of. Unfortunately for me, my brain isn't very compatible with what we think of as classic meditation techniques. Closing my eyes is difficult for me. Breath work is difficult for me. Sitting still is difficult. Being present in my body is difficult. (Trauma has taught me my body isn't a safe place to be.) I have only just completed my first session with this technique so I am no expert - BUT for me it was the only time meditation didn't feel like anguish. I didn't find myself opening my eyes to check the time. I didn't get stuck in a destructive thought loop about HOW LONG CAN THIS POSSIBLY TAKE. And I was actually able to relax. All of these are huge wins for me! I can't honestly say if I felt successful because of the technique (there were no empty spaces that would allow my thoughts to spiral or panic to set in, Dawn spoke through the majority of the session and her voice kept me grounded and engaged), because I was in my own home in a safe place I'm comfortable in, or if it was because I was guided by a person I absolutely trusted.... Or perhaps it was because Dawn is an amazing guide! "

"Dawn is an incredibly compassionate yoga instructor. Her knowledge of yogic principles is evident and well-expressed in her classes. More importantly, she is able to offer alternatives in the moment to help those who may be experiencing physical or emotional limitations to particular poses. The combination of restorative yoga with meditative poetic offerings and a deeply relaxing sound bath is the perfect way to reduce stress in the middle of a hectic work week or create a calm base from which to work on the weekend."
